Author Kathy Groob to Speak at the West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women’s Annual Meeting
Covington, KY—Political consultant, founder of ElectWomen, Kentucky-native Kathy Groob will be speaking this weekend at the West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women’s annual meeting in Charleston, WVa. Groob will speak at a dinner on Saturday evening, August 25, 2012. Tapping in to this year’s theme for the convention “Getting the Job Done”, Groob will inspire the conference attendees to be more involved as leaders in the women’s political movement.
The weekend conference is filled with speakers, educational opportunities and time to bond with the hundreds of members from across West Virginia. “In just 75 days we will be facing one of he most important elections of our lifetime,” said WVa Federation president Belinda Biafore. “We must commit our time, our dollars and enthusiasm to a tremendous grass roots effort now through November 6th.”
Using her political experience and her book, Pink Politics, Kathy Groob offers strategies for winning and gets to the heart of what women need to know before running for office or as they are kicking off their candidacy for public office.
“Drawing upon my own experiences and from the women candidates I’ve worked with and supported, PINK POLITICS is the practical guide women need when making the decision to run for office,” says author Kathy Groob. “Women candidates still face huge obstacles to running for office but with a roadmap, they can find their way.”
Groob interviewed dozens of women candidates, elected officials and political experts resulting in on-the-ground campaign stories, advice and strategies that address the touchy issues women are concerned about before ever deciding to run for office. Personal financial impact, campaign/work balance, raising money, skeletons in the closet and how to grow a thick skin are all topics thoroughly discussed in the book.
PINK POLITICS does more than define proven campaign strategies. It offers stories about women candidates running for office at the local and national levels, and how they addressed challenges that all women candidates face. “PINK POLITICS offers women a comprehensive, practical guide to running for office and about challenges they will face before throwing their hat into the ring,” said Diane Whalen, Florence Kentucky mayor.
