Involved Parent Runs for Minneapolis School Board

June 11, 2012

Minneapolis — District 6 School Board Candidate Tracine Asberry is running strong, and pleased to have led each of five ballots at the Minneapolis DFL Convention on Saturday. “I’m humbled and grateful at the support of so many DFL delegates,” she enthused.

In February when she launched her campaign, Asberry planned to spend her time in the community, making person-to-person contacts with as many Minneapolis residents as possible.

“One of the things I love about Minneapolis is the people,” Asberry said. “I know that people are looking to give input and help to improve our city’s schools. I want to hear as many ideas as possible, and can’t wait to continue the conversation this summer.” Asberry is running as a former Minneapolis Public Schools teacher, adjunct faculty at local college/university teacher education programs, Minneapolis Public Schools parent, and committed community member. She is running for the open district 6 seat, representing the southwest area of the city, where many of the school district’s best schools are located. “I believe the strength of any school lies in its people; students, teachers, staff, families, and leaders. We know what great schools look like, and what it takes to achieve excellence. I pledge to work to ensure access to excellent schools for all our children in Minneapolis.”

Team Tracine, as the campaign is known, is planning to participate in parades, fairs, and block parties this summer. Look for their maroon T-shirts in your neighborhood!

The DFL primary is Tuesday, August 14, 2012. You can learn more about Tracine Asberry and her campaign by visitingwww.tracineasberry.org.
