March 20, 2012
North Carolina’s Lillian’s List has announced its first group of legislative Lillian’s List featured candidates for 2012. The organization will introduce the women at a campaign kick-off event in Raleigh on March 21st. Because of tremendous enthusiasm for the women candidates, the event is sold out.
Lillian’s List of NC is a statewide community of individuals who work to recruit, train, promote and support pro-choice Democratic women running for public office in North Carolina. Lillian’s List is modeled after EMILY’s List and provides financial, strategic, and political support to women serving in the state legislature and the Council of State. They also strategically recruit new candidates committed to reproductive freedom and equality for women.
Lillian’s List is one of the state’s strongest political networks. During the last cycle, the PAC and members contributed over $120,000 to featured candidates.
The Lillian’s List network includes more than 1,000 women and men from across North Carolina committed to recruiting and funding viable women candidates. Since its inception in 1997, the organization hashelped elect 22 of the 25 Democratic women currently serving in the NC General Assembly.
Lillian’s List is the only organization with the mission of recruiting, promoting, training and supporting pro-choice Democratic women candidates for the General Assembly and for statewide offices in North Carolina. The group helps progressive candidates who are ready to lead but need the resources it takes to level the playing field during election season.
