Hahn Campaign Calls for Federal Investigation into Possible Coordination Between Huey Campaign and Independent Expenditure
Following the release of the most explicit, racist and sexist pro-Huey online smear commercial, the Janice Hahn for Congress campaign announced it was filing a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) calling for a Federal Investigation into linkages between Turn Right USA and Craig Huey’s campaign.
Turn Right USA is a brand new “Super PAC” which filed papers as an Independent Political Action Committee on June 13th, 2011, according to the FEC. These PACs are permitted to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money, provided that they have no communication or coordination with the campaign they aid. On June 14th, Turn Right USA released an incendiary racist and sexist ad attacking Councilwoman Janice Hahn, candidate for the vacant 36th California Congressional seat.
Turn Right USA lists its official address at 18016 South Western Ave., Gardena, CA 90248. Previous FEC filings from as recently as May 2010 list an organization at that very address named CampaignLA. CampaignLA’s website (www.campaignLA.com) describes the organization as “a one-stop, vertically integrated political campaign shop, which means we have all our resources in one place.” Craig Huey’s latest FEC disclosure report names CampaignLA as one of their vendors.
The address in question is a retail center suspiciously containing post office boxes rented and used by BOTH Huey’s campaign consultants and Turn Right USA. “There are literally millions of post office boxes where Turn Right USA could have set up their phony political location. I’m not a statistician, but I think I have a better chance of winning the Super Lotto Jackpot, than these two Pro-Huey political groups winding up in the exact same address by accident,” said Dave Jacobson, Hahn for Congress Campaign Manager.
“Craig Huey needs to come clean about his connections to the outrageously racist and sexist attack ad released on his behalf, and possibly at his behest. These disturbing revelations require a full federal investigation into the Huey campaign’s coordination efforts with this ‘supposed independent’ expenditure,” said Dave Jacobson, Hahn for Congress Campaign Manager. “Huey has proven he will spend whatever it takes from his personal fortune to win and now apparently is willing to say whatever he needs to in order to bring his extremist agenda to Washington.”
