ElectWomen Magazine Announces Re-launch

April 17, 2011

Now in its third year, ElectWomen Magazine, the informative web-based political magazine dedicated to women in politics and encouraging more women to seek public office, debuts the re-launch today of its magazine website. Visitors to the website will find new features and increased original content. Fresh graphics along with new sections and expanded links to popular social media are among the changes to the site.

Founded by business and political consultant and former Kentucky Senate candidate Kathy Groob, ElectWomen.com is the only independent, comprehensive magazine style website devoted to providing information, news, advice and resources for women who are considering a bid for political office.

“Our focus will remain on women in politics and campaign resources for women candidates, but there are more women’s issues and news that need to be shared,” said publisher Kathy Groob. The site re-launch offers new sections on women’s issues, women in business news and an opinion section to provide readers a place to “spout off.”

Increasingly, women from the business sector are running for office, and many of the women who have the ability and freedoms to step into the political arena are small business owners and executives.

“The new Women in Business section will share advice and stories about women succeeding in business and in leadership,” said Groob.

ElectWomen Magazine is a non-partisan site and attracts readers who are passionate on both sides of the aisle about issues and candidates.  A new Opinion section will feature opinion-editorials and letters to the editor written by women about women’s issues and candidates.

Other new features included a Featured Book section that recognizes and offers a place to recognize women authors for writing about women’s issues and related topics.

More than 500,000 unique visits to the ElectWomen.com site have been received since early 2009.

“We are clearly filling a need that exists for women to engage more in the political process, both as candidates and as supporters of the organizations dedicated to recruiting and training women to run,” said Groob.  “Our website magazine promotes events and highlights organizations that will connect more women together for our common mission: to raise the United States from its ranking of 89th in the world for women in politics to the top of the list where we belong.”

Among the most popular categories on the website are candidate stories, the campaign toolbox, campaign tips and candidate features.

Kathy Groob resides and publishes the site out of her home state of Kentucky which ranks 41st in the U.S. for women in politics.  She is highly involved in her local women’s political initiatives, which include her role as co-founder of Emerge Kentucky. She serves on Board of Directors of The Women’s Network.
