Meet Oregon’s New Governor, Kate Brown, Being Sworn in Today

February 18, 2015

The Statesman Journal – Secretary of State Kate Brown will be sworn in asOregon’s 38th governor at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning in a relatively brief inauguration ceremony following Gov. John Kitzhaber’s Friday decision to resign.

In a statement Tuesday, she said she would “lay out a series of immediate reforms needed to restore the public’s trust in government” during her inauguration speech.

Her statement gave no hint of what those reforms would be, and spokesman Tony Green declined to elaborate.

The only reference it made to her agenda was that Brown will speak to “her bipartisan approach to helping Oregon’s working families make ends meet.”

Brown will replace Kitzhaber, who served one month of his historic fourth term. He announced Friday he would resign, changing his mind after insisting on Wednesday he would not step down.
