Mom Caucus Conversation Event: May 8, 2014 Lexington, KY

LEXINGTON – Democratic congressional candidate and working mom Elisabeth Jensen will launch her Kentucky Moms Caucus here next week with a coffee break discussion of issues important to women and their families in Central Kentucky. The campaign timed the caucus launch just in time for Mothers Day in honor of Kentucky’s hard-working moms.

“Kentucky Moms get more done by noon than Congress gets done in a week,” Jensen said. “We have the skills to negotiate, know how to work with others who might not always agree with us and we are master problem solvers.

“Our Kentucky Moms Caucus is about applying our solutions and work ethic to the real issues facing us every day like the need for good paying jobs, attainable educational opportunities for our children and ourselves, equal pay for equal work, and keeping our promises when it comes to Social Security and Medicare for our parents’ security,” she added.

Chairing the KMC is Liza Holland, president of Holland Management Services, Inc. A Kentucky Mom herself, Holland is a Lexington executive with expertise and activism in education. She was the president of the 16^th District PTA and currently serves on the Kentucky PTA as secretary and on the Legislative Commission. Holland is also a consultant with of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence and regular contributor to its blog, and has been an education consultant to the United Way of the Bluegrass.

“I am passionate about education and ensuring Central Kentucky families have the absolute best opportunities available for our children. That is the only way we will ensure a secure future with a well-prepared workforce and a strong economy,” Holland said. “ I agreed to help organize the Kentucky Moms Caucus because I believe our legislators should hear from a wide variety of citizens.  Bringing moms together highlights a voice that is often not in the forefront of politics. Moms are often too busy getting things done. Our intent is to bring women together to hear their concerns and to discuss how Washington can work for us instead of against us.”

The Jensen Campaign will host its Coffee Break with Elisabeth at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at Alfalfa, 141 Main St., Lexington. Kentucky Moms, Grandmas and all women are invited to attend the event.
