By Kathy Groob, ElectWomen – Former television anchor, Kathleen Matthews announced today her campaign for Maryland’s 8th Congressional District. The seat is currently held by Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Maryland) who has announced his bid for Senate. Matthews is the wife of MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews.

Kathleen Matthews joins several other candidates in the heated Democratic primary to replace Van Hollen. Matthews recently resigned her executive position at Marriott to run for office.
