April 30, 2015
Working tirelessly to recruit and train women for public office, Kimberly Ellis has herself stepped into the arena to run for the California Democratic Party’s African American Caucus. As the very first African American Executive Director in Emerge America’s national network, Kimberly Ellis has worked for many years to support, train, and inspire Democratic women to step in to political power here in California. Ellis currently serves as Emerge California’s Executive Director, and also helping to expand the program throughout the United States.
Kimberly has worked in private industry, state government and the non-profit sector, developing leaders and successful organizations. In 2009, she was appointed by the Mayor to serve as a Commissioner for the Community Development Commission in the City of Richmond.
“Our state and nation are at a critical point in history. We have an opportunity to reshape the narrative around important issues facing the Black community. As a woman and a mother of two, I care deeply about the future of the Black community and the Democratic party,” said Kimberly Ellis.
