EMILY’s List Endorses WVa’s Natalie Tenant for U.S. Senate

September 26, 2013

EMILY’s List today announced it is endorsing Natalie Tennant for the U.S. Senate race in West Virginia. From the EMILY’s List news release:

She is a trailblazer, a groundbreaking leader, and most of all, ready to be West Virginia’s first woman senator — in a 55-year Democratic seat that the GOP is clamoring to take over. From the first day she decided to run for office to the day she was elected the first Democratic woman secretary of state in West Virginia, Natalie’s been a rising star the whole way.

Now we need to send Natalie even higher and do whatever it takes to beat a Republican opponent masquerading as a moderate, who already has $2.9 million in the bank — and a Republican Party dead-set on taking control of the Senate — and taking this longtime Democratic seat and turning it bright red.

Help hold a critical Democratic Senate seat and contribute to Natalie Tennant’s campaign right now. If she’s going to win in West Virginia, we’ve got to be right there with her — now and every step of the way.

We know Natalie will be a tireless fighter for all West Virginians. As secretary of state, she has drastically increased transparency in the West Virginia government by using technology to improve voting security and protect the voting rights of those serving in the armed forces.

And Natalie has always been a trailblazer. Twenty years ago she made history as a West Virginia University’s first female Mountaineer mascot — and people told her to “go back to the kitchen.” But adversity doesn’t faze Natalie. It didn’t when she ran to become West Virginia’s first elected Democratic woman secretary of state, and it won’t now as she runs to become the state’s first woman senator.

Natalie’s just the kind of strong woman we need in the Senate: one who’ll never back down when it comes to a fight.
