Helene Neville, an American nurse and fitness coach, began running seriously after a battle with cancer in the 1990s. Last week she began a run across America and today entered the capitol at Olympia Washington wearing an ElectWomen t-shirt.

From May 1st to June 15, 2013, Helene will run the 1,520 mile route (2,568 km) runs from Vancouver, British Columbia through…Washington, Oregon, California and ends at the San Ysidro border in Tijuana, Mexico. The route will run parallel to Interstates 5, 505, 80, and Route 101 and 1.

In 2010 Helene ran from California to Florida.
