Pink Politics Book Event With Kathy Groob in NYC Wednesday
April 23, 2013
Women in Politics: Closing in on Equal
With the mayoral election coming up in New York City – and a woman leading the pack of candidates, who, if elected, would be the city’s first female mayor – the timing couldn’t be more salient for a conversation about “pink politics.”
Please join the Women’s Information Network-NYC, Media & Communications Network for a conversation about women in politics with Kathy Groob, author of Pink Politics: The Woman’s Practical Guide to Winning Elections and founder of ElectWomen, a national movement to help women learn about politics, encourage us to become involved, and provide the tools to run for office.
Kathy formerly served two terms on the city council in her hometown of Ft. Mitchell. In 2008, she ran for the Kentucky Senate. Though her campaign fell short of winning the race, it inspired hundreds of women to become involved, and she used that experience to launch her advocacy work. Kathy will share her personal successes, disappointments and insights about what it means to be a woman involved in politics and how to improve women’s status in the political arena and workplace.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 24th, 7-8:30pm
WHERE: The Vig Bar, 12 Spring Street, New York, NY
