All 20 women senators dine with Obama Tuesday evening

By JENNIFER EPSTEIN, POLITICO – All 20 women serving in the Senate were at the White House on Tuesday night for a dinner with President Obama, a White House official said.
The menu for the meal, Obama’s third dinner in as many weeks with senators, included Alaskan halibut and peach pie.
The women in the chamber meet regularly for dinner, and Obama invited them over after being prompted by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who mentioned the idea to the president back in November.
“If you want to create a bipartisan agenda, a great place to start is with the women senators,” Gillibrand said Tuesday afternoon on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” “Oftentimes the women are the ones to reach across party lines, find consensus and create bipartisan support for common-sense measures.”
Obama, Gillibrand continued, “said that’s a great idea.”
