By Betsy Kuhr, ElectWomen.com – Womenwinning, Minnesota’s state-wide Political Action Committee, announced the endorsement of two Minneapolis City Council races; City Council Member, Diane Hofstede (DFL-3rd Ward) and Linea Palmisano in her race for Minneapolis City Council in the 13th Ward.

City Council Member Diane Hofstede (DFL-3rd Ward) announced the endorsement of the powerful women’s organization stating, “I am proud to have the endorsement of womenwinning. An organization that understands the importance of having women at the table and that works hard to ensure all voices are heard”.

“Council Member Diane Hofstede has been a long time supporter of women and families in Minneapolis and the 3rd Ward. We are proud to support Diane for re-election because not only is she the most qualified candidate in this race, she will continue to develop and implement smart policy that levels the playing field for all Minnesotans” – Lauren Beecham, Executive Director.

Linea Palmisano’s campaign recently announced the endorsement of womenwinning.  Palmisano stated, “I am proud to be endorsed by Women Winning, and I know they don’t get involved in every race. The fact that they chose this one means that the 13th ward is an important race to them, and demonstrates their confidence in me as a candidate.”

“We are proud to support Linea Palmisano for Minneapolis City Council in the 13th Ward. Not only does she have a big city vision that will benefit all families in Minneapolis, she has a track record of bringing people together to solve tough issues,” said Lauren Beecham, Women Winning Executive Director. Their committee endorsement vote was unanimous.

Established in 1982, to help increase the number of women in public office, womenwinning has given over $1 million to more than 2000 women’s campaigns. In 2011, womenwinning started their candidate training and recruitment program and have witnessed significant success in the number of women running and getting elected to public office.
