Kentucky women launch reproductive rights PAC

PAC leaders plan to engage in 2014 elections
Louisville,KY–A group of high profile women in Kentucky are launching a new political action committee titled Reproductive Rights for Kentucky with a kickoff event on April 2, 2013. “With the 2014 elections gearing up, our mission is to have enough financial power to promote viable candidates to challenge the current federal and state legislators who do not support reproductive rights,” said Chair Honi Marleen Goldman in a press release.
The formation of the PAC comes at a time when Kentucky’s conservative leaning General Assembly repeatedly has worked to advance restrictions on abortion rights in the state. During the 2013 legislative session, the Republican controlled Senate passed legislation requiring ultrasound probes of women seeking an abortion. The measure did not pass in the Democratic controlled House of Representatives.
The kickoff event will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 3013, 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the Old Medical School Building, 101 West Chestnut (at the corner of First Street, Louisville. Refreshments will be served and parking is available behind the building, also at the YMCA garage on 2nd Street and street parking after 6 PM.
The group is seeking sponsors for the event in the amount of $500.00 or more. Contributions by checks can be mailed to: Reproductive Rights for Kentucky PAC PO Box 33071 Louisville KY 40232.
