New Fundraising Tips Website for Democratic Women Candidates

September 26, 2012

Democratic Dames has been established to inspire and support women in their efforts to raise money for Democratic women candidates and move us towards equal representation.

By August 26th, 2020, on the 100th Anniversary of the signing of the 19th Amendment, our goal is to have women candidates running for office whose numbers, if they win the November election, will give women parity in federal and state governments. We work every year after until we actually elect women at every level of government to create parity.

Democratic Dames PA is working to elect women representatives for and in the state of Pennsylvania.

“We believe that getting more women at the political table will fundamentally change the conversation at all levels of government,” said Katie Maher & Kathleen Joyce.  “To that end we created a fundraising web site using the women’s suffrage movement as inspiration for four types of fundraisers by and for women.  We invite women to take the information provided to create instant fundraising events for the women candidates they support.”

On July 25th, 2011, the 100th Anniversary of the first outdoor women’s suffrage rally held by Alice Paul and Lucy Burns in Independence Square, Philadelphia PA, Democratic Dames will hold a rally with the goal of raising $1 Million Dollars for Pennsylvania women candidates. We will recreate the original event by engaging notable women to speak all around the square to women from across the country just as they did in 1911. It will be our first official convention. We hope to inspire other women in other states to create the same type of events.

By August 26th, 2020, on the 100th Anniversary of the signing of the 19th Amendment, our goal is to have women candidates running for office in Pennsylvania whose numbers, if they win the November election, will give women parity in the US Congress and the Pennsylvania Legislature. We will work every year thereafter until we actually elect women at every level of government in Pennsylvania’s executive branch, legislature, county, city, township, municipality and board to create parity for women.
