The 2012 Project/Center for American Women and Politics – With primaries completed in most states, a record 154 women have been nominated for US House races in November. That total blows past the previous record of 141 nominees set in 2004 – with 10 more primaries still to come!

Regional Summits

The 2012 Project and the Center for American Women and Politics host the first of two regional Women’s Leadership Summits next Tuesday, August 21st in Las Vegas.  A second summit will be held on Sept. 13 in Atlanta, Georgia. Panel discussions will focus on “Making the Case for Women: Research and Messages for the Fall Election.” Speakers from around the country will join us to address why women do or don’t run, where women voters get information, what messages work for women candidates, and more.  Get more details and RSVP here.

National Conventions

As the political parties come together for their national nominating conventions, The 2012 Project will be on hand in both Tampa and Charlotte to keep the spotlight on the importance of electing women. Join us for “Unconventional Women,” a full day of panel discussions hosted by our partners at the Political Parity Project, a nonpartisan initiative of Hunt Alternatives Fund. The RNC event will be Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 2 to 6 p.m., and the DNC event will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Panelists include Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics; Mary Hughes, founder and director of The 2012 Project; and Stacy Mason, campaign manager of The 2012 Project and executive director of WomenCount.
