Emerge Kentucky Graduate Seeks Appointment to Louisville Metro Council

October 4, 2011

Training Program Readies Women to Run For Public Office – Sixteen people are seeking an appointment to an open seat on Louisville’s Metro Council following the resignation of Judy Greene representing District 1.   Attica Woodson Scott is one of those seeking the appointment and then she plans to run for the seat in next year’s election.  Scott is a 2010 graduate of Emerge Kentucky, the training program for Democratic women wanting to run for public office.  The current city councilmembers are expected to make a decision on the person to fill the vacancy at their October 20th meeting.

“After being asked by folks in the District and reaching out to folks to ask what they think, I have decided to submit my resume to fill the vacant seat for District 1 on Louisville Metro Council,” says Scott.  “District 1 is where I live with my two children and where I have built relationships over several decades.  I am committed to serving my community on Metro Council and to being a team player with my colleagues.”

Attica Woodson Scott currently serves as a coordinator with Kentucky Jobs & Justice and was selected as a Leadership Louisville Connector because of her ability to build bridges across divides and to connect people to information and resources to change their lives and their communities.

Emerge Kentucky is currently seeking applicants for its 2012 program class.  Visit www.emergeky.org for more information.
