U.S. State Department Taps Teresa Isaac for Pakistan Democracy Training

Midway College MBA Professor and Lexington Kentucky former mayor Teresa Ann Isaac was selected by the U.S. State Department to conduct trainings in Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi, Pakistan during June. In Lahore, Isaac met with former Lahore Mayor Mian Amir Mehmood to discuss the status of education in Pakistan and the importance of the free press. Mayor Mehmood now owns a chain of colleges and the TV Network “Dunya TV.” Isaac conducted a training session for local elected officials in Lahore on how to represent your constituents and how to set budget priorities. In Lahore, the English daily “The News” and the Urdu daily “Jang” interviewed Isaac.
Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood hosted Isaac at a lunch meeting where she spoke on establishing trust and transparency in government for state elected officials. Isaac conducted a two-day training seminar for state elected officials of the Punjab Assembly on civil procedures, professionalism, and reaching goals despite conflict in the workplace. Each participant was presented with a certificate of completion. In Lahore, Isaac met with young journalism students of the NGO “Bargad” and spoke to them on developing leadership skills. Isaac concluded her visit in Lahore with a speech to the Pakistan College on Law on the importance of an independent judiciary in a democracy.
Teresa Ann Isaac held the office of mayor Lexington Kentucky she presided over measures that previously had been stalled by controversy including the city/county’s enactment of an indoor smoking ban. She currently serves on the board of advisors for Emerge Kentucky.
