April 4, 2010

National Public Radio’s (NPR) political junkie, Ken Rudin has ranked the top ten U.S. Senate primaries coming up in May and June, and the list includes just four women.  Arkansas Senator, Democrat Blanche Lincoln is facing a tough primary opponent who has the support of labor and the left wing of the party.

The second woman in the top 10 primary listing is California Republican Carly Fiorina, the first-time candidate and former Hewlett Packer CEO.  Fiorina is running in a three-way primary to unseat to Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California).

Two women are in the Republican primary in Nevada for Senator Harry Reid’s (D) seat.  Sue Lowden and Sharron Angle and battling it out along with Danny Tarkanian for the Republican nomination.

Not included in the top ten list, but receiving an honorable mention is Ohio, with it’s Senate Democratic primary including Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner up against Lt. Governor Lee Fischer for the nomination.  The primary date is May 4th.
