Women in Politics and Government Videos Available on YouTube

The Massachusetts School of Law is bringing the stories about women in politics to life through its video shows. The Massachusetts School of Law has produced an award winning series of educational television shows. One particular episode entitled “Women in Government” which is currently available free to the public and to women’s organizations at the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Iy8UqzcRYE.
The shows topics include why more women don’t run for office, challenging gender boundaries in political office and how running for office is different for men and for women. Guests on the show include Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Dr. Caroline Heldman (co-editor of Rethinking Madame President: Are We Ready for a Woman in the White House?) Attorney General of Massachusetts Martha Coakley, State Representative Katherine Clark, and Mayor of Salem, MA, Kimberly Driscoll. Discussion topics include the gender bias in politics, how women leaders differ from male leaders, why women don’t run for office, female leadership traits and the general landscape of women in politics today.
