Two Leading Women Events This Spring – Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics and the Indiana Democratic Women’s Caucus

1st EventElectWomen Magazine’s Kathy Groob, will be the featured speaker at the Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics Leading Women reception and dinner on May 1, 2009.  The event will be held at the Clarion, downtown Columbia, South Carolina. 

South Carolina ranks 50th among states in the percentage of women holding elected office.  It is the only state where no women serve in the state senate.  “It’s time to make a change, to celebrate our victories and prepare to break new ground,” said Barbara Rackes, spokesperson for the organization. 

The dinner and reception will be followed the next day by a campaign school.  The school is for women thinking about running for office in 2010 and for those wanting to become more effectively involved in campaigns.

2nd Event – Indiana Women Host Former Vermont Governor Madeline Kunin for March Dinner.

Former Vermont Governor, Madeline Kunin is the keynote speaker at the Indiana Democratic Women’s Caucus annual dinner on Saturday, March 28th in Bloomington.  Kunin is the author of the book, Pearls, Politics & Power.  The event will be held at the University Club on the campus of Indiana University.  Tickets are $40 which include both the reception and dinner.  For reservations, contact www.democraticwomenscaucus.org.
