By Kathy Groob, Founder ElectWomen – This is what it is all about. All the work, all the workshops, all the training and all the advocacy. A woman will be elected to the highest executive office in the land. Hillary Clinton is making history this week by becoming the first woman presidential nominee for a major political party.
Once this highest glass ceiling is finally broken, the floodgates will open for scores of woman to run for office. Little girls and young women will see politics as a career for themselves; they will see a woman Commander in Chief as normal.
I have to admit I am beaming. My pride comes from deep inside the struggle during the early years of my business career. Trying to fit in as a strong woman in the workplace. Fighting for equality and for the playing field to be the same for me as for my male colleagues.
In my lifetime, I did not know if I would ever see the day that we would have a woman president and a first gentleman. But yes, I am seeing it and so thankful to be here for this historic occasion.
