The Campaign Husband: Behind the Scenes, Critical to Candidate’s Success

No woman, or for that matter, candidate can do it alone.  Husbands and families play such an important role in campaigns, providing support, doing the tasks nobody else wants to, and riding along the roller coaster of emotions that goes along with being a political candidate.  Nobody takes it harder when a candidate is attacked than a spouse or family member, but it goes with the territory.

Pictured is candidate husband, Dr. Michael Gerwe. An obstetrician and gynecologist,  he’s delivering babies by day and placing campaign signs and knocking on doors by evening for his wife Kathy Lape, a candidate for judge in Kentucky.  He even made his own badges that he has worn relentlessly since January.

So thank you candidate husbands and spouses, for supporting your wife and woman candidate. Win or lose, her race is inspiring more women to run for public office;  desperately needed in the United States.
