Emerge Wisconsin Announces 27 Candidates in Fall Elections

June 11, 2012

As Wisconsin moves forward with the next election this fall, Emerge Wisconsin announces that 27 graduates of the Emerge training program are running for office this fall.

This year’s Emerge Wisconsin graduates running for office currently include three for State Senate; two running for County Clerk and 22 alumnae are running for State Assembly.

Alumnae from each one of the six Emerge Wisconsin classes are represented, 60% of the Alumnae running are from outside Dane and Milwaukee Counties and there are alumnae running in essentially every region of Wisconsin. This number plus the 14 alumnae who ran this spring means that more Emerge Alumnae will have run in 2012 than have run in the previous five years of our existence.

Last year, Emerge Wisconsin’s Board of Directors and staff made the decision to move our program up so that this year’s class would graduate in February 2012 instead of during the summer as in the past.  Emerge Wisconsin changed the schedule in response to the excitement around this year’s elections as to train the women who were planning to run this fall.  By adjusting the class schedule, more women are now trained, running and ready to win.
